Installation Description
Installation Description
The ePOS installation DVD is suitable for both initial and update installations under the operation systems Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, Windows Server 2008, and Windows server 2012. A license is required for installation.
Please note:
An installation - especially an initial installation - should be performed under the user Administrator, since it is possible that several Windows system libraries will be updated.
Insert the DVD and begin the installation by starting setup.exe.
If AutoRun is activated, the setup will begin automatically.
After selecting the setup language, the directory selection screen allows you to select a program installation directory, which is automatically created if it does not already exist. In the case of an update installation, the current directories are suggested. For the best possible experience (program runtime), select a local drive.
The installation with / without development system differs only in the installation of the program etepos.exe.
During update installations, the program directory is completely overwritten each time. In the data directory, the group TDV and, optionally, the demo and example data are updated. All other data remains unchanged.
Finally, you are prompted to choose a program group, or rather specify a new name.
During the installation, you have the option of setting up a database for the version control of the rule-based controls. This is recommended particularly when multiple users develop rule-based controls. The database should be installed on a server and the data in the database should be used in every ePOS installation in the network.
