System Settings
System Settings
Central settings, such as the definition of the program and data directory paths, the license key, as well as general settings (such as the system language, for example), can be changed through the program "Settings" in the EPOS program group ("Start - Programs - EPOS - Settings" from the taskbar) These settings apply to the development system as well as to the general runtime environment.
Note: Further system settings are accessible within the development system in the menu "Extras - Options".
Directories
The program and data paths are defined here. These must be set up so that both of the selected directories contain a folder called "etepos".
The default settings are "c:\acbis\prog" for the program directory and "c:\acbis\data" for the data directory. Selecting a network drive - especially for the data directory - is possible.
Version Control
All of the information about the current database is registered here. Additionally, this tab allows you to manage the users that are allowed to access the ePOS development system.
Note:
An ePOS development workstation requires a developer license!
Settings
In the general settings, the following preferences can be defined:
Access to the group TDV: Since the group TDV contains exclusively system standards, which must never be modified in an application, it is normally not displayed. With this setting, however, the group can be made visible.
Enter key in dialogs: Here, the Enter (Return) key can be enabled or disabled for switching to the next field in dialogs. By default, the enter key has no effect.
Language: Here, the display language of the system is defined.
Tdv.ini
The essential ePOS settings are saved in the settings file tdv.ini. Generally, the file tdv.ini is found in the Windows directory (C:\Windows). Writing to this file requires administrator rights. If the necessary rights are missing, the operating system Windows 7 and higher saves a copy in the folder:
C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Windows
Thus, it can happen that different users have different settings.
If desired, the file tdv.ini can be copied to the folder in which the ePOS programs are installed (C:\Acbis\EPOS\prog\exe32). When reading from tdv.ini, the file is first searched for in the working directory.
If an entry in tdv.ini exists as an environment variable, the value of the variable is used during the evaluation, not the entry in tdv.ini. Normally this overloading is used in order to work with other rule-based controls paths.
