The Decision Table Editor
The Decision Table Editor
The decision table editor allows you to work on decision tables (DTs). To create a new DT, select the menu function "create file - DT". An existing DT can be accessed by setting the respective names of the group, compound and DT - or by double clicking on the decision table in the ePOS Explorer.
Using the decision table editor is very similar to using Microsoft Excel. Thus the content of an already filled cell out will be deleted automatically when you click on it and enter the fist character. If you only wish to correct a part of the field, first select the and then click on the display panel on the upper edge of the DT window.
If you have made a mistake while correcting an field, you can restore the original content with the Escape key (Esc). This only works as long as you have not changed the active field.
Parts of a field can be deleted quickly by selecting the relevant text with the mouse and the pressing the Delete key on the keyboard.
The DT window tab will contain the full DT name („<group>:<compound>:<DT>") followed by the current number of rules, conditions and actions (shortened to the Initial of each word respectively) as well a change indicator ("*") which indicates that the DT has been changed but not saved.
Should the DT contain Notes, this will be indicated by a small red dot in the upper left had corner of the field. If the mouse is idle for some time over such an field, the note will be displayed as a type text.
The Font used to represent DTs is set via the Menu option "Extras - Options - Display".
An overview over the functions usable can be accessed via the functions overview, the DT Syntax is described in the chapter Structure of the Decision Table.
A design tool for decision tables is available through the input assistant which also offers the ePOS functions, current parameters, decision table and dialogues.
Hint:
Before saving a DT, you should check the syntax because possible typing errors will only become apparent during the implementation if the appropriate rule/condition/action are executed.
